3.1 or 13.1 oak canopied miles on the beautiful paved trail from Osteen to DeBary, FL. This is a point-to-point half marathon ending in Gemini Springs Park for the after party and race awards ceremony. Park at the start and shuttle buses will take you back to your vehicle. Or have your friends meet you at the finish line to celebrate your successful race!
Giving back to the trail system and those that have made it possible while promoting health, wellness and safety for athletes in our local community. June 5th is going to be a monumental day for Volusia County!
We will be enjoying the first segment of the new East Central Regional Rail-Trail, which one day will stretch 52 miles from Enterprise to Edgewater, including a 10-mile leg to Titusville. The shaded, tree-lined segment, which covers 5.7 miles from Green Springs Park to State Road 415, was completed in March 2012.
Our run continues along the Spring-to-Spring trail, through the shady section of the Gemini Springs Trail and ends at the Oak Tree Area of Gemini Park. This is a gorgeous area of Gemini Springs Park and the perfect setting for our Race Party.
The best part of this race is we will be giving back to those that have made the trails possible. The ECHO Grant has enabled the trails to be built. Local runners, walkers and bikers are utilizing portions of these trails every day thanks to ECHO. We want to ensure the publicity gets out about these trails and the importance of continuing the efforts to complete the rail-trail in its full vision.
Thank you to The Friends of Volusia County Trails, Inc. for keeping the trails in the forefront of the local media and for your future efforts of our beloved trail system! We support your dream to reconnect an increasingly urban and sedentary American population with the nation's parks, trails and open spaces.
